Marietta was named one of only 10 All-America Cities in 2006 because of its friendly sense of community. In Marietta, you’ll enjoy beautiful green spaces, abundant recreational and cultural opportunities and people with strong connections to their neighborhoods.
The Marietta Police Department, for example, recently started the Police Athletic League, which provides civic, athletic, recreational and educational opportunities to local children. A new soccer program is underway, led by Sgt. Mike Goins, who also coaches Marietta Middle School’s seventh grade basketball team.
Additionally, the police department is deeply involved in raising money for the Special Olympics, through various fundraising activities. The fire department is also involved with the community through the Marietta Fire Museum that chronicles various equipment used by the department since the 1800s and gives children the opportunity to see how firefighters work. You’ll also find a variety of welcoming churches, synagogues, mosques and other religious institutions to help connect you with your community.
